Mobile Giving

Lumos

LUMOS logo

The Lumos Foundation, chaired by JK Rowling, aims to end the systematic institutionalisation of children across Europe. The Foundation works with governments, policy makers and practitioners to enable children to grow up in a family-type setting. As part of International Children’s day they wanted an application that captured the spirit of the foundation and encourage donations via mobile phone.

Lumos was the first UK charity to launch an integrated, global mobile application. Rather than a ‘text-to-give’ service, donors received something in return for their donation – a virtual candle. The mobile candle flame can be moved around (by shaking / waving the iPhone) and temporarily blown out (by blowing into the microphone). And, because the mobile application features social networking ‘sharing’ facilities, supporters can spread the word amongst their friends and followers in just one click.

“We’re thrilled to be breaking new ground in the UK charity sector and hope that this global mobile application will increase the reach of the Light a Birthday Candle campaign immeasurably. It’s our way of providing a lifeline for a lifetime.” Deborah Granville, Lumos’ Head of Fundraising

Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association

Carrying the Flag to all generations

TradeMobile helped Kiwis around the world donate and receive a digital poppy on their mobile for ANZAC Day 2009. The Royal New Zealand Returned & Services' Association (RSA) Poppy Appeal is the single fundraising event for the RSA and all donations raised go to assisting war veterans. It was vital to the RSA that the donation system was global and reliable so Kiwis around the world could contribute.

TradeMobile developed and launched the ANZAC poppy site. Visitors to the website could donate, download poppies and other "related content" for mobile phones, such as the Last Post ringtone. Along with mobile content management and global delivery Trade Mobile also built a Wall of Remembrance where visitors could leave personal messages. In addition, a digital poppy was planted in an online Field of Remembrance for every donation made.

"The internet site gave kiwis – wherever they were – an opportunity to remember and commemorate war-time heroes on Anzac Day,"  Dr Stephen Clarke, CEO.

Returned Services League of Australia

Mobile Poppy Download Site

The Returned Services League of Australia has as its goals to
serve the interests of its members, veterans, the ex-service community and members of the Australian Defence Force. Australia’s Remembrance Day is a key day in the calendar for fund raising. In 2009 TradeMobile developed a web and mobile poppy site for people to download poppies and other mobile content as well as make a donation.
