Little, Brown recognised the need to take readers 'Beyond The Story', using Trademobile's technology to enhance the reader’s experience of the book rather than replace it.

TradeMobile developed an iPhone application timed to coincide with the publication of the paperback edition of Transition. The application acts as a companion to the novel, offering exclusive material including: unseen chapters, character biographies, commentary from Iain Banks and his original notes and plan for the novel. Readers are able to type in a page number and be presented with information (including videos featuring the author) on the characters and places relevant to that page or chapter.

TradeMobile used a unique barcode printed in the back of the paperback edition to unlock the exclusive content. People just had to point their iPhone's camera at the code for scanning.

Mark Billingham

For Mark Billingham, TradeMobile worked with Sky TV and Little, Brown Book Group combining Trademobiles's page-extra features in addition to previously unseen interviews and material related not just to the books Scaredy Cat and sleephead but also to the television series 'D.I. Thorne' which screened on prime time over six weeks.

Through filmed interviews with Mark, readers were introduced to key places of interest that featured in the books and TV series.
