voeveo entered Beta in December 2006 after 20 months of development. The first nine months were spent “stocking the shop” with quality mobile content from sellers globally and testing site performance.
Sellers have been quick to see the value of voeveo’s high seller revenue (60% to 70% to the seller), technology and on-site marketing tools. So far 5,800 sellers from over 20 countries have uploaded nearly 50,000 items of original mobile content. This will increase as the business continues to expand.
Sellers range from independent hobbyists – musician, artist, games developer; to mobile entertainment businesses both small and large such as Tracebit; through to digital entertainers who want to tap into the mobile business channel such as CD Baby (America’s largest independent label), Naxos, and Aardvark Records.
In October 2007, voeveo began its first phase of commercialisation by coming out of Beta with the release of a new design and an online trial marketing campaign linked to a launch in the UK.
